Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

To provide maintain facility security controls to protect employees, processing plant, all company property and assets from violations of federal, state and company rules and regulations. This position will have supervisory and facility security responsibility for a total four locations in Compton, CA; El Monte, CA; Porterville, CA; Kelso, Wa and will require regular travel.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervise all security officers at assigned facilities. Ensure appropriate scheduling and execute the departmental attendance policy. Ensure appropriate behavior through employee performance evaluation and correction. Ensure SOPs are adhered to uniformly

Regular contact with HR regarding security staff: performance development, accommodation, hire, and discharge.

Effectively train or arrange training for all assigned officers in order to accomplish assigned tasks.

Assist in emergency preparation and emergency response or action

Assist HR with personnel investigations including ‘fitness for duty’, ‘reasonable suspicion’ and ‘violence free work place’

Conduct background reviews, determining hiring eligibility

Provide assistance for management to execute the drug and alcohol testing program

Manage, investigate and record unusual incidents, crimes, and accidents

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent supervisor experience required

Prefer experience in law enforcement, fire department, security, or military

Must be able to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal). Must be able to read and write with proficiency.

Ability to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Proprietary Security Officer License or comply with other State legal requirements (dependent upon the State where employed) for a licensed Security Officer or equivalent.

Must be able to obtain a license to carry a concealed weapon in California.

Must be able to obtain a California tear gas certification.

Ability to supervise staff, including assigning work and providing training. Ability to provide positive direction and motivate performance. Must be able to train security officers and obtain a training license in security form regulatory agencies including the State of California.

Ability to work flexible hours, varying shifts, weekends, and holidays. Must have ability to travel routinely to supervise assigned officers in person. Have a reliable means of transportation, routine use of a personal vehicle is required in the performance of duties

Must possess or be able to gain a knowledge of security operations and procedures

Knowledge in fire/alarm systems preferred.

Ability to maintain professional composure when dealing with unusual and/or high pressure circumstances

Highest degree of demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality; operating with judgement and discretion.

Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organizations

Good organizational skills

Strong customer service and results orientation

Possess a valid state driver’s license (issued by a state in the United States of America).

Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be eligible to legally work within the United States of America

Physical/Mental Demands

Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, routinely under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations

Will be exposed to stressful situations such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area

Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

Frequent sitting, standing, and walking that may be required for long periods of time and may involve climbing stairs, walking up inclines, and traversing uneven terrain

Occasional reaching with your hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus

Ability to operate a company owned vehicle for the performance of duties

On occasion may be required to perform stressful and physical activities

May be exposed to inclement weather or be required to work in different types of environments depending upon duties

May be required to work under conditions that require the use of protective equipment and devices and/or awareness of personal safety and safety of others

Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time (8-12 hours) on a concrete/metal grate floor
